Savouring CELTA

Celta & Delta talk 8/7/11

Here I discuss all things CELTA and probably beyond.  I guess it’s the space for training and development ideas and discussions.

Fast and free-thinking

We ran 12km yesterday in preparation for an all-you-can-eat visit to Rodizzio, to thank our cousin and estate agent for all his help during our house move at the back end of last year.  So the idea of today’s run was a quick and easy one, but then I got in the mood and decided to try and get as close to 6min/km pace as possible and maintain it for five minutes.  In the end I wasn’t too far away.

Some of the thoughts that I can remember that occured to me while running today:

My branding lessons can be much broader – get away from the branding book

Do a straight test-teach-test lesson on the adjectives from the branding onion

Include language analyses for all new / useful language I include in my lesson plans – to help inexperienced teachers get into the habit of doing (or at least thinking) them themselves

Will anyone ever read my blog?

What would come of it?

What will Mer think of it?

Random updates on my runs, especially the races and the ones that help me think.

And so do I

10 07 2011

No idea how many years ago and why this was written, but it’s short and to the point and has a catchy, concise repeating tail…

She caught my eye as she hurried past

I started to smile

And she wondered why

And so did I.

I began to trawl through memories lost

That challenging glint I’d previously crossed

I wondered where and she wondered why

And so did I.

An enchanting thought entices my mind

Tinged regretfully with your last goodbye

It was you who’d sparkled with those inquisitive eyes

And so did I.

Flooding nostalgia triumphs over tears

A cascade of memories as I count the years

That extinguished flame breathes anew

And so do I.

And I thought..

10 07 2011

The song I sang at my wedding.  Written while on holiday in January 2003, travelling between Ushuaia and Punto Arenas in Chile and thinking of Mer, who I had just started going out with before the holidays started.

I saw the Starship Enterprise in the clouds tonight

It was moving kind of slow and something wasn’t right

So I looked on up into the clouds and found the moon

And like it always does

It made me think of you

And I thought…

I love you more than anything else in this beautiful world

I love you more than I could ever put into words

I love you louder than I could ever sing this song

And I love you deeper than the deepest river runs

And I thought…

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me…

I crossed a bridge today and I think it changed my life

I went from being alone to wanting you as my wife

So I looked on up into the clouds and found the moon

And like it always will it made me think of you

And I thought…

I love you more than anything else in this crazy world

I love you more than I could ever say with words

I love you louder than I could ever sing this song

And I love you better than is the man that I’ve become

And I thought…

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me

And that’s the way it’s supposed to be

I love you Mer and you love me

And I’ll love you for eternity

Yeah Yeah Yeah

Yeah Yeah Yeah

Yeah

Singing Songs

10 07 2011

She

I love singing and have irregularly written many unsung songs over the years.  I share them with you here, just because otherwise they’ll never get published anywhere, and maybe there’s someone out there somewhere who may enjoy the odd phrase here or there.  Profuse apologies to the rest of you who arrive here for the unbridled navel-gazing you witness.  Please head back to the rest of the blog as quick as you can and forget you ever came here :).
